Short courses

Regular short courses

UNESCO-IHE offers a wide range of short, intensive and highly specialised courses for mid-career and senior experts who wish to upgrade and refresh their knowledge and skills.

They are intended for individuals or groups of professionals with a specific area of interest, and limited time at their disposal.

The short courses are held in Delft and vary in length from one to four weeks. They also vary in focus and content, ranging from specialised technical issues, to management challenges and approaches.

The educational methods used in these short courses include lectures, individual or group exercises in the classroom, at the computer, or in the laboratory.

Fieldwork, excursions and field visits to relevant institutions are often part of the courses, allowing the participants to come into contact with practical examples of the theory described.

Apply for a course?

Follow the online application link on the web page of the course you wish to apply for.

Through case studies, role-plays and workshops, the content is made more interactive, and the participants are able to share their experiences.

NFP Fellowships

Most of our short courses are eligible for NFP fellowships (see the website www.nuffic.nl ). Nationals from around 60 countries can apply for a NFP fellowship via the Netherlands Embassy or Consulate.

ATTENTION: The deadline for applying for an NFP fellowship for short & online courses with a starting date between 01 January and 15 March 2011 has been advanced to 1 October 2010. This means that those who wish to apply for an NFP fellowship at the Dutch Embassy for these courses, will have to apply to UNESCO-IHE before September 1, 2010, to get their admission letter in time. For short & online courses that have a starting date between 15 March - 30 June 2011, the deadline to submit your NFP application at the Netherlands Embassy is December 1, 2010. The deadline for short courses held in July and September 2011 is February 1, 2011.

Please check with the Embassy or www.nuffic.nl. Please be informed that you need an admission letter from our institute before you can get the NFP forms.

In case you can arrange funding via other sources, the deadline of application is 4 weeks before the start of the course.

Examination

Short course participants can take part in the examination of the short course. If you obtain a passing mark for this examination and you return to UNESCO-IHE within 4 years after completion of the short course to follow a full MSc programme, you will receive exemption for this short course/module. Taking part in the examination is not compulsory. The costs for this exam are €250 and should be borne by yourself.
