Environmental Policy Making

Brief description

The aim of this course is to make participants familiar with the various aspects of environmental policy making, including the cyclic process of policy making, the policy instruments that can be used, the various policy strategies that can be followed and the position of environmental policy in the broader context of a policy for sustainable development.

Target group

The course is aimed at both professionals involved in environmental policy making and academicians interested in this subject.

Course content

Subjects include:

  • Choice of policy instrument
  • Choice of strategy
  • Environmental target and standard setting
  • Stakeholder participation
  • Public-private partnerships.
Examination

It is possible to take part in the examination of this short course. If you obtain a passing mark for this examination and return to UNESCO-IHE within four years after completion of the short course to follow a full MSc programme, you will receive exemption for this short course/module. The costs for this exam are €250 extra and should be borne by yourself. Taking part in the examination is not compulsory.
