SWAT Summer Course / CLOSED FOR REGISTRATION FOR 2010

River Basin Modelling using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool

Brief description

The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) is a freely available modelling software package to analyse water, soil, agriculture and nutrient interactions at catchment modelling.

The course introduces river basin modelling using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool. SWAT is an agro-hydrological model that simulates water and soil processes at the catchment scale. The software is imbedded in a GIS interface (ArcSWAT) and linked to several visualisation or decision supporting tools.

Learning objectives

The short course trains water professionals in using SWAT in order to allow for model-based water management planning.

Target group

This short course is beneficial to engineers operational in the field of water or land management or research.

Course content

The modes of instruction used in this short course are 40% lectures, and 60% hands-on training on the computer.
