UNESCO-IHE has signed a number of long-term international cooperation agreements with various partners, comprising a wide range of fields and technical cooperation in human and institutional capacity building.
Institutional agreements, including Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) set the framework under which specific (project) activities are carried out with each partner.
These bilateral partnerships fall into three categories:
- Knowledge Institutes. Partnerships with knowledge institutes, universities and research centres focus on the development of joint research and education activities and exchanges of staff and students.
- The private sector. Partnerships with the private sector involve human resources development through specialized training and short courses, fellowship sponsorships and contract research.
- Government bodies and sector organizations. The partnerships with government bodies, NGOs, intergovernmental agencies or development banks focus on institutional development and human resources development.
