Elena Ostrovskaya

Dr. Elena Ostrovskaya is lecturer in Environmental Policy. She was granted a PhD degree by the Institute of Water Problems of Russian Academy of Sciences (2000).

During her studies she specialized in environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources, especially in environmental monitoring, impact assessment and policy. She joined UNESCO-IHE in February 2008. Currently she is active in the following fields:

- Environmental policy analysis;

- Compliance with, and enforcement of environmental legislation;

- Assessment of environmental legislation on practicability and enforceability;

- Environmental and water quality monitoring.

She is involved as a mentor in MSc and PhD projects on these topics.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

- Design and execution of environmental monitoring programs;

- Management of research projects in environmental monitoring, environmental impact assessment;
- Environmental policy analysis;

- Knowledge transfer through education (course development) and mentoring/supervising;

- Design and execution of applied scientific research;
