Mr. Marco Schouten is a Business Economist, specialized in the field of Water Services Management and Capacity Building at UNESCO-IHE Delft. His experience encompasses institutional strengthening, strategy development, business process re-engineering, training development and delivery, finance and administration, the economic aspects of the European Water Framework Directive and Private Sector Participation in Water and Sanitation.
He brings in 10 years of international consultancy experience predominantly in the field of Performance Improvement and Institutional Development in a.o. Egypt, Nigeria, Suriname, Bosnia Herzegovina and Hungary. Before he joined IHE he worked as consultant for Ernst & Young Management Consultants and Royal Haskoning.
He was involved on long term missions in Suriname (1996-1998) as Management Consultant and in Fayoum, Egypt as the expert on Finance and Management for the local water utility (1999-2001).
At UNESCO IHE Mr. Schouten has ample experience in various educational functions. At present he focuses on the fields of Public Private Partnerships and Water Utility Management.
