UNESCO-IHE is actively engaged in both long- and short-term international cooperation projects, aiming at implementing the water policies of international agencies (e.g. UNESCO, UNEP, the European Commission, the World Bank), bilateral donors (e.g. DGIS, SIDA) and national governments (e.g. People’s Republic of China, Ghana, Indonesia, Iran).
Through its institutional capacity building projects, UNESCO-IHE strengthens water sector organizations and develops postgraduate education, professional training and research facilities with partner institutions.
UNESCO-IHE has over 80 experts with impressive international track records in water sector development. The Institute can also mobilize a network of alumni in more than 164 countries who can contribute a mix of modern know-know and local expertise to any development-related project.
With over 80 scientific staff, 70 PhD fellows and 200 MSc students active in the various water-related fields, UNESCO-IHE makes important contributions to water sector research in the context of sustainable development.
UNESCO-IHE assists national and international agencies in the development of water policies. Private sector organizations can also call upon UNESCO-IHE for advice on the sound management of water resources and wastewater so as to develop cleaner production processes.
UNESCO-IHE’s tailor-made training is designed for clients whose staff require tuition on specific topics or seek to develop a common knowledge base to address future challenges.
