The overall theme of this department concerns information and communication technologies (ICT) and modelling, and their application to the solution of water-related problems in civil engineering.

Hydroinfomatics: modelling and infomation systems for integrated water management

Hydroinformatics uses simulation modelling and information and communication technology to help in solving problems of hydraulics, hydrology and environmental engineering for better management of civil engineering systems. Knowledge management is a discipline that more generally seeks an effective exchange of knowledge between staff and students. This is achieved by integrating appropriate ICT systems, knowledge sharing and Web-based collaborative working.

The department is also involved in developing tools and facilities for distance education and e-learning.

 
HIKM Department has one core group that is responsible for the MSc programme in Hydroinformatics:
