Seminar on Dredging and Reclamation

Brief description

The course aims to train (future) decision makers, advisors and project engineers in governments, port and harbour authorities, off-shore companies and other organisations that have to execute dredging projects, in the preparation, bidding and supervising of dredging and reclamation works.

Learning objectives

Integrated in the UNESCO-IHE short courses program, the core of the seminar is the well-known 1-week course of the International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC), presented by experts from the industry. The seminar focuses on the need of dredging, project phasing, soil investigations and productions, survey systems, cost estimating and pricing, tender procedures and contracts.

The program includes various workshops on identifying the need for dredging, preparation of a dredging and landfill project and preparing in competing groups a tender bid for a dredging contract as well as a one-day visit to the execution of a dredging and reclamation project.

Target group

Representatives of port authorities, companies, and individuals, with an education level equivalent to at least a B.Sc. or comparable work experience.

Partners

For information and application: contact IADC.

Additional information

The course fee includes all tuition, seminar proceedings and workshops and a special participants dinner at the end of the week but is exclusive of travel costs and accommodation. Assistance with finding accommodation can of course be given by IADC.

Each participant receives a set of comprehensive proceedings with an extensive reference list of relevant literature and, at the end of the week, a Certificate of Achievement in recognition of the completion of the coursework.
