Ms. Ahlers has built a solid track record in education, gender consultancy, and in designing, conducting and managing interdisciplinary research projects, addressing engineering, environmental, institutional, and education related topics in land and water resources management.
In her work, she focuses on interactive and participatory methodology with strong emphasis on knowledge sharing, with explicit attention to local-global interaction.
Her specialisation lies in gender and policy analysis of the political economy of water management. Publications in Spanish, English and French have resulted. She has successfully fulfilled long and short-term assignments in several countries in Latin America, South Asia and South East Asia, working in multi-cultural working environments for both the public and NGO sectors.
