UNESCO-IHE and the International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM) in Japan have signed a cooperation agreement to collaborate in research and training of professionals.
The specific topics of collaboration include water hazard and risk management in the context of climate change.
The collaboration agreement was signed on June the 9th in Paris for an initial period of five years and will prompt the development of a new online module on Water and Climate and the development of a joint international course in Water and Climate.
Both institutes will also work together in the development of flood risk index to measure flood risks and to assess progress in flood risk reduction from a global perspective. “I am sure that the collaboration between the two institutes will deliver high-quality research outcomes”, said Richard Meganck, director of UNESCO-IHE.
