Tailor-made training
UNESCO-IHE’s tailor-made training is designed for clients whose staff require tuition on specific topics or seek to develop a common knowledge base to address future challenges.
The focus can be technical, managerial, strategic or operational, depending on the client’s priorities.
Training is organized for groups of various sizes (5–30 people) and can accommodate one or more organizations.
They are designed to upgrade skills, introduce new technologies or management options, support sector reform processes, etc.
The training vary in length and in depth, from several days (workshops, seminars) to several weeks (short courses, exposure tours). The Institute also offers 18-month (semi) tailored programmes, leading to an MSc degree.
The training can be delivered on-site, or based at UNESCO-IHE in Delft, or a combination of the two. It may comprise lectures, workshops, e-learning, role-plays, case studies, and field visits throughout Europe.
Seminars and workshops
UNESCO-IHE organizes seminars, workshops and other events, typically lasting one to three days, attended by decision makers and senior staff.
They include interactive sessions where new strategies and policies are discussed, or implementation modalities are designed. Visits to relevant organizations are often part of the programme.
Short courses
Short courses can be arranged to refresh or upgrade the knowledge and skills of mid-career or senior staff of government institutions, NGOs or private sector organizations. Typically ranging from a few days to a few weeks, these courses can consist of a series of short training periods held at intervals. Typical components are lectures, case studies, field visits, internships and interactive role-plays.
Tailored MSc programmes
Special MSc group trainings are intended for groups from one country and one sector (strengthening sector performance), from one country and different sectors (improving cross-sector cooperation) or from different countries and one sector (improving cross-border cooperation).
Participants enrol in UNESCO-IHE’s existing MSc programmes, and attend special classes, field trips, case studies and group exercises specifically designed for the client.
During their studies, the participants develop a common language and conduct research on a topic that is directly relevant to their work. Upon successful completion of their study, participants receive a fully accredited MSc degree.
