Tineke Hooijmans

Senior Lecturer in Sanitary Engineering



Resume

Tineke Hooijmans is a senior lecturer in environmental process technology and in modelling of activated sludge systems.

Tineke has a MSc in Environmental and Sanitary Science from the Agricultural University Wageningen, and a PhD in Bioprocess Technology from the Technical University Delft.

She has been working at IHE since 1991, involved in education in several Master Programmes: groupwork training, laboratory sessions in the field of aeration and anaerobic wastewater treatment, lectures on environmental process technology, environmental process modelling and on modelling of activated sludge processes.

She has been a course leader for the short course on Anaerobic Wastewater Treatment and on the WHO Course on Air and Water Pollution. She has been mentor of the Sanitary Engineering Course and had several managerial positions at the institute (Deputy Departmental Head, Head Daily Board, Member Steering Committee IHE).

The MSc and PhD supervision has been in the field of biofilms in sewer systems, xenobiotics removal in wetlands, biological phosphorus removal, nitrogen removal and activated sludge modelling.

She is involved in the supervision of MSc and PhD research in the field of nutrient removal and activated sludge modelling.

Tineke is project leader of a research project called "The effect of salinity on biological nitrogen removal from industrial wastewater".

She is module co-ordinator of the Sanitary Engineering course, and course leader of a 2-weeks course entitled "Modelling of activated sludge wastewater treatment".
