Peter Heerings

Peter Heerings is laboratory assistent.

After finishing secondary school (HAVO) and doing a study english Peter worked at an office selling things to Britain and the USA. Soon he realized this life sitting at a desk was not his future. In 1987 Peter started working for IHE as laboratory assistant. This meant preparing the glassware and set ups needed for the laboratory sessions. Later work changed with the introduction of the MSc research which was an interesting and challenging change for the work in the lab.

When the analyst microbiology left he was asked to take over her main tasks meaning preparing the microbiology and ecological sessions and assisting during the sessions related to these subjects. The last years also the microbiological part of the MSc work increased which means that this part of the work also has become more and more important. Also the preparation of the fieldworks and maintenance of the instruments is an important part of the daily work.

The daily contact with people from all over the world and the positive atmosphere in the lab keeps the work interesting!
