Jetze Heun main interest is in Water Resources Planning and Management, in its broadest sense, based on an academic background in civil engineering - land and water development. Jetze has a special interest in developing simulation games for use in education.
Since 1975, with 20 years of living long-term abroad in several countries, followed by more than 12 years at IHE and on short-term missions abroad, Jetze Heun has built up a great track record in education and research, in leading multi-disciplinary projects and in management functions. His assignments addressed engineering, environmental, institutional, capacity building, education and policy analysis related topics in land and water resources management, at international, national, regional and local level.
He regularly carries out programme and policy formulation missions for donors and governments. He has specific experience in the following countries: Indonesia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Yemen, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Sudan, Bangladesh, Yemen, Vietnam, Nepal, Zimbabwe, Malaysia and many others in long- and short-term assignments and in education and research related studies.
At UNESCO-IHE he currently guides a program to make the Institute an even more international institute through a global partnership of universities and through introducing innovative approaches to education: The UNESCO-IHE Partnership for Water Education and Research.
