On Monday 15 October UNESCO-IHE and Unie van Waterschappen will host a mini-symposium on Sanitation Technology.

The photo exhibition has been organized on the occasion of the 50 year anniversary of UNESCO-IHE.

UNESCO-IHE holds an Open Day for the public on Saturday, September 8, 2007, during the national monument day. This year, visitors will not only be able to enjoy UNESCO-IHE's monumental building, but will learn about the Insitute and its activities. They will be able to watch researchers perform water experiments, talk to students from countries around the world, and children can explore the building with their own tailored tour. UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education and the Institute for Environmental Studies at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam are organising a three-week Intensive Seminar on Global Environmental Change and Water, to be held in Delft in September-October 2007.

The project Small-scale Water Treatment Facilities for Domestic Use and Artificial Recharge with Surface Water is financed by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and executed by UNESCO-IHE in collaboration with Israeli, Jordanian and Palestinian partners (the Core Parties) in the frame of the EXACT project.

On the 26th of July, Kwabena Nyarko from Ghana will hold his Public Defence, and will defend his thesis entitled: 'Drinking Water Sector in Ghana, Drivers for performance.' Professor Meine Pieter van Dijk will be his promotor and Professor Helmsing from ISS his co-promotor. It will be the first joint promotion between ISS (the Institute of Social Sciences) and UNESCO-IHE.

The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) is a public domain model actively supported by the USDA Agricultural Research Service at the Grassland, Soil and Water Research Laboratory in Temple, Texas, USA. SWAT is a distributed model designed to simulate water, nutrient and pesticide transport at a catchment scale on a daily time step.
