With over 80 scientific staff, 70 PhD fellows and 200 MSc students active in the various water-related fields, UNESCO-IHE makes important contributions to water sector research in the context of sustainable development.
The Institute’s research addresses the issues on the global water agenda, in particular achieving the Millennium Development Goals. All UNESCO-IHE projects are demand-driven, relate to problems experienced in the developing world, and promote principles of good governance.
UNESCO-IHE undertakes research in collaboration with many institutions in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Clients include multilateral and bilateral agencies, as well as NGOs and private sector organizations.
